Marie Lu splits the book into two different perspectives of the book, one of Day and the other of June. June is seen as prodigy lives a good life of being loyal to the Republic. Day is seen as a Legend who is a rebel to the Republic. When splitting the book into tow different perspectives lets the reader see not only what each person is saying to each other, but how they feel as well. This lets the reader to see how Day and June truly feel about each other. From this, you can see that they both love each other dearly, because each time the person thinks about something, they always find a connection to the other person. Love is needed in a relationship to provide the fuel for being happy, without love, there isn't any excitement in a relationship and it would be dull and lonely. Another thing Marie Lu uses in her book is flashbacks. The flashbacks Lu uses shows the past lives of Day and June. Lu does this because the flashbacks being used shows the effect that the Republic had on Day and June. This teaches the reader that it's good to know others people's pasts because then they can notice the connections of the person's past to his or her present. For Day and June, the flashbacks show how the Republic made them into the people they are now. In their relationship, Day's and June's past is what got them together. If Day's trials score weren't changed, and he was known to be a prodigy as well, then June's score could've been changed. Also, if June's brother wasn't killed, then she probably wouldn't have met with Day in the first place. The past is what connects two people together. If a simple thing was changed in the past. it could change the biggest things, such as love.
In conclusion, Marie Lu uses different types of craft to show the relationship between Day and June. The use of of two different perspectives and flashbacks to show the love and trust in Day and June's relationship. Lu portrays the idea that in a relationship, the main aspects to have a strong one is trust and love. You will need trust in the other person, because if there's no trust then their will be no chemistry between the two people. As more trust builds up, then there will be more revealed about each other. Then there will be a better understanding of each other. Love is needed in a relationship because without love, there will be no excitement in the relationship. Also, you wouldn't want to be in a relationship with a person you don't like. Love and trust both connect to each other, as if there's no trust, then there is no love, and if there's no love there's no trust.
